Bonfire night postponed for Champions League fixture
The only fireworks to be seen on Glasgow's traditional Bonfire night on November the 5th will be at Celtic Park as Celtic entertain Manchester United in the group stages of the Champions League
City bosses have decided to move the goalposts for the event due to the game amid concern that two major events would lead to traffic chaos and that there would not be enough officers to patrol the evening.
A capacity crowd of 60,000 is expected for the Celtic Park clash while more than 50,000 are predicted to turn out for the annual fireworks spectacular.
A spokeswoman for Manchester United said: "We welcome the news that Glasgow's fireworks celebration has been moved.
"Fans will now not have to miss out on what is an important event in the Glasgow calendar and will also be able to attend what is sure to be an exciting match."
Celtic declined to comment
The popular fireworks display was moved once before, in 2003, when Celtic played Belgian side Anderlecht.
Martin O'Neill's Celtic went on to win the match 3-1
This year's spectacular, free Guy Fawkes Night event in Glasgow will now kick off on Glasgow Green on November 6 at 7.30pm.
