Chris Killen hopes to make the New Zealand squad for the Beijing Olympics this summer.
The New Zealand internationalist joined Celtic last summer from Hibernian. He has scored one goal for Celtic – against Gretna at Fir Park in October 2007 – in 27 appearances for Celtic (three starts and 24 substitute appearances).
Killen is in a 24-man preliminary squad for the finals of the football tournament which starts in China on August 6.
Essentially an under-23 tournament,26 year old Killen can play for his country as each country is allowed a quota of three over-age players
The final squad of 18 will be announced in the coming weeks.
New Zealand are grouped alongside China, Brazil and Belgium in the Olympics.
